Introduction

PCR Global’s Abrasive Wheels training course is aimed to provide candidates with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in the safe mounting and selection of Abrasive Wheels and Cutting Discs.

We recommend that training take place on-site, using the tools and equipment with which students are most familiar to gain the greatest benefit from this training although sessions can be arranged at alternative training venues.

Content

  • Health and Safety Legislation

  • Published Guidance in the safe use of Abrasive Wheels (HSG17)

  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment (PUWER) Regulations 1998

  • Types and functions of abrasive wheel equipment and cutting discs

  • The selection, testing, mounting and storage of abrasive wheels and cutting off discs

  • The care, maintenance, transport and handling of abrasive wheels and cutting off discs

Certification for this course is valid for 3 years.

Assessment

To confirm understanding, students will by assessed through their contribution toward group discussion, in addition to an open-book multiple choice examination and practical assessment (disc mounting).
