Vehicle drills, walking drills, communications training, medical training etc. To be effective, these all require a high level of participation. Like so many others, I spent many a day doing just that on parade square pictured above.

It felt pretty good to pass it today in such a relaxed way. I am quite pleased with my photograph also.

It is said that the blades were cast in Iraq, and said to be partly composed of metal from guns and tanks of Iraqi soldiers killed in the Iran-Iraq war.


Realistic, hands on training was certainly a well ingrained, and fundamental part of military life. Whilst many companies invest heavily in training, unfortunately much of it is ‘off-the-shelf’, PowerPoint driven, and delivered by trainers with little or even no experience of the subject matter.
