Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

It was an absolute pleasure to provide support on The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 to Simon and Terry at Fire Protection Services Ltd. A great company, with preventing injury and loss at its core.

Fire prevention is close to my heart, so I am grateful for every opportunity to be among fire safety professionals - always great anecdotes!

The session stemmed from an objective set during a risk review. We covered the intent and content of L153, and by using past and ongoing projects as case study’s, were able to map the requirements to real life scenarios.

Ongoing questions and technical discussions surrounding hazards, the principles of prevention, general and specific duties, pre-construction information, the client brief, construction phase plans, and the health & safety file, provided continuous assessment.

During the course, a number of risks and opportunities were identified, analysed and evaluated; subtle process changes will now seek to mitigate and/or exploit these findings.

An enjoyable session which certainly achieved its aim - it was driven by top management, targeted, not off the shelf, based on real life operations, and challenged organisational assumptions.

FPS is a small privately owned, local company, based on the enterprise park in Swansea, South Wales.

The company was established in 2006 by Simon Gwinnett who has over 25 years experience in various fire protection disciplines at both operational and at senior management level:

“FPS was born out of my disillusionment with some of the larger 'players' in the industry. These large companies appeared to be more concerned with themselves rather than their customers & staff.

I felt we could do a much better job.”

FPS’s philosophy is one of Quality, Trust, Honesty and Loyalty.
