What is Planning in the ISO context?
Moving on from 'Clause 5 Leadership' I outline 'Planning' in the ISO HLS (High Level Structure) / Harmonious Structure for ISO45001 H&S, 9001 Quality, 14001 Env, 18788 Security for those new to ISO risk management.
For me, Planning is the MOST important Clause in the HLS.
RISK ASSESSMENT output leads us into the setting of OBJECTIVES. We can be judged in court on our risk assessment methodology.
Clause 6 PLANNING
6.1 Actions to address Risks & Opportunities
Hazard identification for 45001, Aspects & Impacts for 14001
Legal & other requirements (Compliance Obligations for 14001 & not for 9001) -
6.2 Objectives and Planning to Achieve them
Set at 'relevant levels & functions' (I use Strategic, Tactical & Operational Levels)
6.3 9001 only - Planning of changes
A working familiarity with the ISO HLS: (CLP SOPI):
4.0 Context
5.0 Leadership
6.0 PLANNING
7.0 Support
8.0 Operation
9.0 Performance evaluation, and
10.0 Improvement
... is a very effective addition to our cognitive locker - our mental 'grab bag'.
Having the HLS at the front of our minds helps to identify Client's issues & formulate a strategy for improvement.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Productive.
